 Former Rivers State Governor and immediate past Minister of Transportation under the Muhammadu Buhari administration, Right Honourable Chibuike Amaechi, on Monday, cleared insinuations in some quarters that he has left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), by stating categorically that his long silence does not mean that he has dumped the party. Amaechi was reacting to a fictitious report by an unidentified Ibeh, who claimed that the former Minister of Transportation has regretted joining the APC. Amaechi attributed the malicious report to the handiwork of mischief-makers. However, in a statement made available to Daily Independent, the erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, flatly disclaimed the report by one faceless media rapscallion called Ibeh.   The Presidency, on Sunday, debunked trending reports insinuating a subliminal crisis and rift between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, describing it as mendacious propaganda. It declared that the false report was merely an illusionary strife and smear campaign targeted at tarnishing the cordial relationship between Tinubu and Shettima. Chidinma Adetshina crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024

  Weeks after she was forced to withdraw from the Miss South Africa pageant, Ms Chidinma Onwe Adetshina has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.   The 23-year-old beat 24 other contestants to clinch the coveted crown at the pageant which took place at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos state today August 31. Chidinma was invited for the pageantry following her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant which was triggered by significant backlash over questions regarding her nationality.  Chidimma, who was born to a Nigerian father, and a Mozambique mother and raised in Soweto, faced a torrent of abuse from some South Africans who claimed she was not qualified to contest in the pageant as her father is not South African South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister, Leon Schreiber, initiated an investigation into Ms Adetshina’s citizenship following a request from the Miss South Africa organisers and outcry from South Africans.
